Sandy Zabell
Sandy Lew Zabell (born May 22, 1947 ) is an American professor of statistics and mathematics . He is the author of numerous publications, including in the areas of probability theory and cryptology .
Life
In 1968 he received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in mathematics at Columbia University in New York City and in 1971 the Master of Arts (MA) in biochemistry and molecular biology at Harvard University in Cambridge ( Massachusetts ). In 1975 received his doctorate he there with Shlomo Zvi Sternberg with his dissertation A Limit Theorem for Conditional Expectation with Applications to Probability Theory and Statistical Mechanics for Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy).
He is Rector for Undergraduate Studies (Director of Undergraduate Studies) and Professor of Statistics and Mathematics at Northwestern University (NU), a private university in the state Illinois ( USA ). After one of his research focuses in the past was on the use of statistical methods in the history of cryptanalysis , especially by the British code breaker Alan Turing (1912–1954), he is currently (2019) intensively concerned with the work of German cryptologists during that time of World War II .
