Sansevieria suffruticosa is a species of the genus Sansevieria in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae). The specific epithet suffruticosa (Latin suffruticosus) means: slightly woody, semi-shrubby '.

description

Sansevieria suffruticosa grows as a perennial , succulent plant with an upright to high to 25 centimeters strain undergrowth forming with above ground extending up to 35 centimeters long Rhizomn . The dense branches with the typical stilt roots contribute to the wide distribution of the species. The irregularly directed or more or less two-lined 7 to 18 cylindrical leaves are ascending or spreading out. The simple leaf blade is 15 to 60 inches long and 1.3 to 2 inches thick. They are provided with a groove on the upper side up to half the length of the leaf, which has a sharp-edged, brown edge with a white membrane. The leaves are dark green, with weak pale transverse ligaments when young, and taper into a 3 to 4 millimeter long, brown, thorn-like hard tip. The leaf surface is drawn with dark green, partly continuous, partly broken lines, which become imprinted with age as they dry out and form narrow furrows. The leaf surface is rough.

The single- eared inflorescences are up to 30 to 38 centimeters long. The panicles are densely covered with two to five flowers per cluster. The bracts are ovate, pointed and pointed and about 1 to 4 millimeters long. The flower stalk is green with whitish spots. The bracts are whitish-gray or greenish-white. The flower tube is 1 to 2 centimeters long. The tips are about 1.2 to 1.4 inches long.

distribution

Sansevieria suffruticosa is common in Ethiopia , Kenya , Tanzania and Malawi in well-overgrown thickets at an altitude of 1700 to 1900 m.
