Sant Esteve is a Roman Catholic church in Tavèrnoles , a Spanish parish in the Comarca Osona of the Catalonia region , built in the 11th century. The Romanesque church was declared a monument ( Bien de Interés Cultural ).

history

The church, built around 1070, was consecrated in 1083 . A master builder , whose name has not been recorded, built these and other churches in the county of Osona . The church was under the monastery of Sant Pere de Casserres .

In 1628 two side chapels were added, which, like the sacristy that was built later, were removed again in the 18th century. In 1728 the portal facade was changed.

description

The single-nave church with a semicircular choir is covered by a barrel vault with two belt arches . The choir has three windows and an arcade under the roof approach , which is influenced by the Lombard architectural style .

The two storeys of the rectangular bell tower are structured by a sawtooth frieze. There are twin windows on all sides with a central column .
