Santa María Church

The Roman Catholic parish church of Santa María in Isún de Basa , a district of the municipality of Sabiñánigo in the Spanish province of Huesca in the autonomous community of Aragon , was built in the 11th century. The Romanesque church has been a protected architectural monument since 1982 ( Bien de Interés Cultural ).

The church consecrated to Our Lady was started around 1060 with the choir and completed with the nave in the 12th century . The church is built from carefully worked stone . The semicircular choir is structured by seven blind arcades, over which a frieze with round bars runs. The tower was added in Gothic times. A simple, arched portal is on the south side.
