Santa Maria is a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese town of Odemira , in the Alentejo region . On June 30, 2011, the municipality had an area of 59.3 km² and 1300 inhabitants. This corresponds to a population density of 21.9 inh / km².
As part of the administrative reorganization in Portugal , it was dissolved on September 29, 2013 and merged with São Salvador to form the new municipality of São Salvador e Santa Maria . It represents the municipality of the historical center of Odemira.
