Santo Antônio da Platina , officially Portuguese Município de Santo Antônio da Platina , is a city in the Brazilian state of Paraná in the Sul region . In the 2010 census year it had 42,707 inhabitants, the population of the Platinens was estimated on July 1, 2019 at 45,993 inhabitants who live in a community area of around 721.5 km². The distance to the capital Curitiba is 362 km.
The city is located between the metropolises of São Paulo and Curitiba.
Santo Antônio da Platina was founded on April 6, 1900 and has been independent since 1914.
geography
The city lies at an altitude of 496 m above sea level. The biome is Mata Atlântica . Surrounding communities are Jacarezinho , Joaquim Távora , Bandeirantes , Jundiaí do Sul , Guapirama , Barra do Jacaré and Abatiá .
climate
The city has a tropical temperate climate, Cfa according to the Köppen and Geiger climate classification . The average temperature is 20.8 ° C. The average rainfall is 1389 mm per year.
Local government
The executive rests with the city prefect (mayor). In the local elections in 2016 , José da Silva Coelho Neto, known as "Professor Zezão", was elected city prefect for the 2017-2020 term. In the election he was a member of the Partido Humanista da Solidariedade (PHS), which no longer exists .
The legislature lies with an elected nine-member city council, the vereadores of the Câmara Municipal.
Since 1955 the municipality is administratively divided into the three districts Distrito de Santo Antônio da Platina , Distrito de Conselheiro Zacarias and Distrito de Monte Real .
