Sapana is a scattered settlement in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Sapana is the second largest town in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Taraco in the province of Ingavi . The village is located on the Taraco Peninsula in the southern part of Lake Titicaca at an altitude of 3843  m on the northern coastal plain. Almost thirty kilometers further southeast is Tiahuanaco , the internationally known world cultural heritage site - ruins from the pre-Inca culture .

Sapana is located on the Bolivian Altiplano on Lake Titicaca between the Andean mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east.
