Sarah Marie Sponcil (born August 16, 1996 in Phoenix ) is an American beach volleyball player .

Career

Sponcil began her career at the Veritas Preparatory Academy in her hometown. At first she also played volleyball indoors. From 2015 to 2017 she studied at Loyola Marymount University and then for another year at the University of California, Los Angeles . In 2013 she played her first beach volleyball tournament on the AVP tour in Huntington Beach . In 2014 she took part in the U19 World Cup in Porto with Alic Eager . In 2016 she reached fourth place with Torrey Van Winden at the U21 World Cup in Lucerne . At her first tournament on the FIVB World Tour she was third in Haiyang (three stars) with Caitlin Ledoux . With Lauren Fendrick she was fifth in Tokyo (three stars) and ninth in Vienna (five stars).

Since autumn 2018 Sponcil has formed a new duo with Kelly Claes . At the 4-star tournament of the 2018/19 World Tour in The Hague , Claes / Sponcil lost the final against Brazilians Ana Patrícia / Rebecca in early 2019 . They also qualified for the 2019 World Cup in Hamburg .
