Sarandi , officially Portuguese Município de Sarandi , is a city in the Brazilian state Paraná of the Região Sul. In the 2010 census year it had 82,847 inhabitants, the population of the Sarandiens was estimated on July 1, 2019 at 96,688 inhabitants, who live in a community area of around 103.5 km². The calculated population density is around 800 people per km², in fact 99% is concentrated in the urban area. It ranks 22nd out of 399 municipalities in the state based on population and 388th in terms of area. It is part of the Maringá metropolitan region , also known as Grande Curitiba, with another 25 municipalities . The distance to the capital Curitiba is 429 km.
Sarandi lies close between two cities and has a small amount of agricultural land. The economy is based on trade, services and small industries.

The city has a tropical temperate mountain climate, Cfb according to the Köppen and Geiger climate classification . The average temperature is 17.9 ° C. The average rainfall is 1318 mm per year.
Local government
The executive rests with the city prefect (mayor). In the local elections in 2016 , Walter Volpato was elected city prefect by the Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira (PSDB) for the term from 2017 to 2020.
The legislature rests with an elected 10-member city council, the vereadores of the Câmara Municipal.
