Sarata ( Ukrainian and Russian Сарата , Romanian Sărata ) is a village in the Eastern Carpathians in the south of the Ukrainian Oblast Chernivtsi with about 90 inhabitants (2006).
The mountain village is located at an altitude of 1,182 m in the southeast of the historical Bukovina landscape near the Ukrainian-Romanian border . Holoshyna belongs to the district municipality of Shepit within the Putyla district in Pokutien and is located 52 km south of the Putyla district center . The 15 km long Sarata brook, a tributary of the Bilyj Cheremosh, flows through the village . To the west of the village is the 1766.5 m high Hnatassja, the southernmost mountain of the Ukrainian Carpathians.
