Saretschny ( Russian Заречный ) is a district of the Buryat capital Ulan-Ude ( Russia ).
geography
The settlement is on the southern edge of the Chamar-Daban Mountains, a good six kilometers west of the center of the republic capital Ulan-Ude , to the left of the largest tributary of Lake Baikal , the Selenga . The place owes its name to its location on the other side of the river - from Ulan-Ude's point of view - Russian for behind the river .
history
Saretschny was built in the 1970s as a prefabricated housing estate in the immediate vicinity of the old village of Stepnoi , with which it soon grew together. It had the status of an urban-type settlement , which was subordinate to the Stadtrajon Sowetski of Ulan-Ude until it was incorporated in 2009.

Economy and Infrastructure
Saretschny is mainly a residential suburb of Ulan-Ude. There are various companies for trade and supply as well as the construction industry.
The M55 “Baikal” Irkutsk - Chita road runs through the village , from which the A165 branches off to the Mongolian border at Kjachta . There is a city bus connection with the center of Ulan-Ude .
