Status: end of career

Sascha Koch (born March 15, 1978 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German soccer coach , scout and consultant and former soccer player .

Player career

Sascha Koch played in her youth at FSV Oggersheim and Ludwigshafener SC . At the age of 15 he joined the youth team at 1. FC Kaiserslautern . He was 25 times national youth player.

In 1997 the midfielder came from the amateurs of 1. FC Kaiserslautern to the regional league club SV Waldhof Mannheim . The Ludwigshafener played ten league games and four cup games for the blue-blacks. He scored one goal each in the league, in the DFB Cup and in the BFV Cup . After only one year in Mannheim, Koch moved to the west of the republic. At Alemannia Aachen in 1999 he was able to celebrate promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga without playing a single game . Injuries threw Koch back there again and again. So also a year later in the 2nd division. Here he was substituted on in the 2-2 game against Chemnitzer FC in the 75th minute by coach Eugen Hach and thus came to the only professional appearance in his career. Due to an injury, Koch had to end his active career in 2000 at the age of 22 and became a sports disabled person.

Functionary career

After his sports disability, Koch returned to his home club FSV Oggersheim in 2000, initially as an A youth coach . In 2003 he became the head coach of the Oggersheim team and, as a coach, was able to celebrate two promotions from the association league to the then third-class regional league. Towards the end of the 2008/09 season, the club withdrew from the now fourth-class regional league and filed for bankruptcy, which is why the entire professional team and coach had to leave the club. In 2009, Koch was introduced as a trainer at the regional division Wormatia Worms . After only 14 regional league games and one win, he was released again.

In January 2010, Koch attended 1. FC Kaiserslautern . In 2011 he acquired the football instructor license at the Sport University Cologne . Since December 2011 he has been working as a consultant at the Leverkusen sports agency toranas . In July and August 2010, Sascha Koch attended FCK for the second time .

At the beginning of the 2013/14 season, Sascha Koch was hired by TSG Hoffenheim as a trainer to help the professionals sorted out by the trainer Markus Gisdol , including Tim Wiese , Eren Derdiyok , Tobias Weis and Edson Braafheid , within a "training group" separated from the main squad 2 ”, an approach that has been heavily criticized by the public. With the dissolution of the training group, Koch was also fired.

For the 2016/17 season he was hired as a talent scout for Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen . In January 2017, Koch was released from his duties. In March 2017 he took over the same position at VfB Stuttgart .
