Sascha Lange

Alexander "Sascha" Lange (born December 13, 1971 in Leipzig ) is a German author , historian and musician .

Life

Sascha Lange grew up in Leipzig's southern suburb . After attending school for ten years at the "Arthur Hoffmann" polytechnic high school, he learned the trade of a theater carpenter at the Leipzig Opera from 1988 to 1990 and then worked until 1993 as a stage craftsman at the Leipzig Opera and Theater . In between he was a civil service performer for the people's solidarity in Leipzig.

From autumn 1993, Lange made up his Abitur at the Leipzig College. From 1996 to 2004 he studied at the University of Leipzig in the fields of Medieval and Modern History, Journalism and Political Science . 2005 began Lange - funded with a grant of the German Trade Union Federation belonging Hans Böckler Foundation - his doctoral studies; In 2009 he was on "Youth between non-conformity and resistance in Leipzig during the Nazi era" for Dr. phil. PhD .

In 2007 his book debut DJ Westradio - my happy GDR youth was published by Aufbau-Verlag, followed in 2011 by the novel That will be my year . In autumn 2019, Sascha Lange and Bernd-Lutz Lange presented the documentation David and Goliath on Leipzig's Peaceful Revolution in October 1989, which was also published by Aufbau-Verlag.

Sascha Lange has been a freelance writer and historian since 2009. He wrote journalistic articles for the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk ( Artour, Figaro ), Sächsische Zeitung , city magazine Kreuzer (Leipzig), Leipziger Zeitung , Leipziger Blätter , Beatpunk web magazine and Fieberkurve music fanzine.

As a historian, Lange mainly works on youth cultures in the 20th century as well as youth opposition and resistance during the Nazi era ( Leipziger Meuten et al.). In addition, he published and was on the road nationwide with lecture tours. In 2012 he was curator of the permanent exhibition “The Leipzig Packs - Youth Opposition 1933–1945” and in 2017 the traveling exhibition “Freedom versus Hitler Youth Youth Groups in Saxony 1933–45”, both in the Leipzig School Museum. He worked as a scientific advisor for the German Resistance Memorial Center in Berlin, the Buchenwald Memorial , the Leipzig Theater and the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk .

Private

Sascha Lange lives in Leipzig with her partner and two children. He is the son of Bernd-Lutz Lange and Stefanie Lange.
