Sascha Posch (born December 13, 1992 ) is an Austrian grass skier . He starts for the WSV Traisen and is a member of the A-team of the Austrian Ski Association . The two-time Austrian champion has been taking part in world cup races and world championships since 2011 . In 2012 he became junior world champion in giant slalom and super-G.

Career

Sascha Posch visited the Skihauptschule in Lilienfeld and then trained as a Lower Austrian national ski instructor . In addition to lower-class competitions in alpine skiing , he also took part in grass ski competitions at an early age, such as the races of the FIS School Cup. After a break of several years, he has been participating in international grass ski competitions again since 2011.

Posch drove his first FIS races in Burbach at the end of May 2011 . On June 5 of the same year, at the start of the 2011 World Cup season , he contested his first World Cup race in Marbachegg . He finished this Super-G in 14th position and won World Cup points for the only time this year. Thanks to his bonus points from the FIS races, he finished 24th in the overall World Cup at the end of the year. In August Posch achieved first place in the giant slalom and second place in the Super-G at the FIS races in Wilhelmsburg . These FIS races were counted as Austrian championships , making Posch Austrian national champion in giant slalom and junior champion in giant slalom and Super-G. Posch then started at the 2011 World Championship and the Junior World Championship in Goldingen, which was held at the same time . In addition to three failures, he achieved eighth place in the junior Super-G and eleventh place in the Super-G and fourteenth place in the giant slalom in the general class.

In the 2012 season , Posch achieved top 10 placements in world cup races for the first time, with his best result being fifth in the slalom in Rettenbach . In the overall World Cup, however, he could not improve compared to the previous year, again he finished 24th. Posch was one of the most successful participants at the Junior World Championships 2012 in Burbach : He won two gold medals in the giant slalom and in the super-G as well as the bronze medal in the super combination; only in the slalom he was eliminated. As in the previous year, he was Austrian giant slalom champion at national level.
