Saur Riswanowitsch Ugujew (born March 27, 1995 in Chassavyurt ) is a Russian wrestler . In 2018 he became world champion in free style in the weight class up to 57 kg body weight.
Career
Saur Ugujew belongs to the Kumyken ethnic group , a Turkic people who live in the north of Dagestan . He started wrestling in 2003 and focuses on the free style. He lives in Khasavyurt and is a member of the "Mawlet Batirow" wrestling club, Khasavyurt . He has been trained by Scheme Schemjew since 2006. The 1.57 meter tall athlete weighs just under 60 kg. Wrestling is z. Currently also his job.
Saur Ugujew was one of the best Russian wrestlers in his weight class in the "Cadets" age group. In 2011 he became Junior World Champion in Szombathely in the weight class up to 42 kg and in 2012 also World Champion in Baku in the weight class up to 46 kg body weight. None of the wrestlers he defeated at that time later reached the absolute world class.
It also took Saur Ugujew a few years to reach the top of his weight class in Russia. As a junior in the "Juniors" age group, he only appeared as the Russian champion in 2013. However, he did not come to international assignments.
In 2016 he started at the Russian men's championship, but retired early and only finished 21st. From then on, however, he was increasingly promoted by the Russian Wrestling Association and in the same year was also used in some well-attended international tournaments with good results.
In January 2017 he had his first big success with the men, because he won the prestigious "Ivan Yarigin" Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk, where the Russian Wrestling Association awards the places for the upcoming European Championship. He won in Krasnoyarsk in the weight class up to 57 kg in front of Artyom Gebekow , Selimchan Abakarow and Nariman Israpilow . In May 2017 he was used in the same weight class at the European Championships in Novi Sad and won victories over Vladimir Jegorow, Macedonia and Andrei Jazenko, Ukraine, but then lost to the experienced Giorgi Edischeraschwili from Georgia. Since this reached the final, he was able to continue in the consolation round and secure a bronze medal with a victory over the French Zohair El Quarrage.
In June 2017, Saur Ugujew was the first Russian champion ahead of Artjom Gebekow , Omak Sjurjin and Dimitri Aksonow . However, the World Cup in Paris in August 2017 was disappointing for him. He lost his first fight there against the Indian Sandeep Tomar , was eliminated and only finished 23rd.
In January 2018 he again won the "Ivan Yarigin" Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk. In May 2018 he competed at the European Championships in Kaspiisk. In the weight class up to 57 kg he beat Stevan Micic from Serbia, Zohair El Quarrage and Lewan Metreweli Wartanow from Spain, but lost again in the final against Giorgi Edischerashwili. In August 2018 he was again Russian champion ahead of Churesh-Ool Donduk-Ool, Muslim Sadulajew and Artjom Tjutrin. At the World Championships in Budapest in October 2018, Saur Ugujew celebrated the greatest success of his career so far. He was there in the weight class up to 57 kg with victories over Mihran Jaburjan, Armenia, Reinierei Andreu Ortega, Cuba, Yūki Takahashi , Japan and Nurislam Sanajew , Kazakhstan, the new world champion.
He was not at the start at the "Iwan-Yarigin" Grand Prix 2019 and at the European Championship this year. But he started in June 2019 at the European Games in Minsk. Again wrestling in the weight class up to 57 kg, he won there over Alexander Chirtoaca, Romania and Garik Barseghjan, Armenia, but then lost to Mahin Amiraslanow from Azerbaijan just on points (2: 3). In the consolation round he won over Georgi Wangelow from Bulgaria and thus secured a bronze medal.
