The Schönach is a raging mountain stream in Tyrol near the border with Salzburg . It rises at an altitude of approx. 2500 meters below the Schönachkees , a small glacier that extends below the mountains Zillerkopf ( 2995 m above sea level ) and Schneekarspitze ( 3209 m above sea level ) in the Reichenspitz group ( Zillertal Alps ) , and flows from there northwards through the Schönachtal . Part of the water is fed into the Zillergründl reservoir . After a good 10 km it flows 1 km east of Gerlos into the Gerlosbach . It is its largest tributary.
