The Reichenspitzgruppe is a small mountain group up to 3000 meters high within the Zillertal Alps . It lies on the border between the Austrian states of Tyrol and Salzburg , north of the main Alpine ridge . Its highest point is the eponymous Reichenspitze with a height of 3303 m above sea level. A.
Location and surroundings
The summits of the Reichenspitzgruppe are located to the south above the Durlaßboden reservoir near Gerlos . In the west the area is bounded by the Zillergrund , a valley in which the upper reaches of the Ziller flows, in the east by the Krimmler Achental and in the south by the main Alpine ridge. The next significant settlements are in the south of Prettau in the Ahrntal , in the north-west Gerlos and in the north-east Krimml .
Waters
The Ziller rises in the Reichenspitz group, which originates in the streams of the Dreieckerkees glacier , northwest of the Dreiecker (2892 m on the main ridge) and Rauenkofelkees , on the north-south running ridge between Rauhkofel (3251 m, on the main ridge) and the Kleinspitze at 3169 meters Height. The Gerlosbach also has its origin in the Wildgerloskees glacier , north of the Reichenspitze. Significant natural lakes in the area are the Eissee , located at an altitude of 2569 meters southeast of the Zillerplattenscharte , the Lower and Upper Gerlossee (2320 and 2469 meters, east of the Zittauer Hütte) and the Rainbachsee (at 2404 meters, northwest of the Krimmler Tauernhaus). There are also two reservoirs in the Reichenspitzgruppe, the Zillergründl reservoir , whose water level is at 1850 meters, and the Durlaßboden reservoir , east of Gerlos at an altitude of 1405 meters.
Major peaks
The highest peak is the Reichenspitze with a height of 3303 m above sea level. A. , which gives this mountain group its name. In the northeast ridge of the peak are the 3260 meter high Gabler and the Mannlkarkopf with 2873 m. The Hahnenkamm ridge (3206 m) running west from the Reichenspitze carries the Wildgerlosspitze (3278 meters) and the Schneekarspitze (3206 m). The Zillerspitze with 3,092 meters and the 3,052 meters high Richterspitze are in the ridge that is sent south from the Reichenspitze . The Kuchelmooskopf (3214 m) rises south of the Hahnenkamm ridge . The mountains of the Schönach Valley ( Schönachschneid and Zillerkopf ) further to the west are often also counted as part of the Reichenspitz group. The Reichenspitzgruppe has a total area of around 15 km². The core area of the Reichenspitz group is heavily glaciated. The largest glacier is the Wildgerloskees , north of Reichenspitze and Wildgerlosspitze. To the south are Zillerkees , Kuchelmooskees and Rainbachkees .
