Shadow of a love is an American film drama by Michael Pressman from the year 1996 . The film is based on the play To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday of Michael Brady .

action

Affected by the death of his wife Gillian, who fell from the mast of her sailing ship, David Lewis remodels his wife's summer residence in Nantucket , Massachusetts into his permanent residence. He spends most of his time on the beach thinking about his late wife, inadvertently neglecting his daughter Rachel.

On the second anniversary of his wife's death, he invites Gillian's sister Esther and her husband Paul for the upcoming weekend. Esther insists on inviting her friend Kevin Dollof in the hope that David will take an interest in her. However, David ignores her and continues to prepare for Gillian's birthday party.

The happenings over the weekend put the relationships between the adults to the test: Esther and Paul have to deal with the problems that arise at the wedding of Rachel and her provocative boyfriend, while David realizes that he should be a loving and caring father to Rachel and accept the death of his wife.
