Schellroda is a district of the municipality of Klettbach in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia .

Schellroda is located west of Klettbach on Landesstraße 2156 and just a few meters south of the federal motorway 4 in a hilly location at the gates of the state capital Erfurt .

history

The place was first mentioned on April 12, 1251. The agricultural Rundlingsdorf belonged to the city of Erfurt from 1379 . Since the administrative reform of 1706 Schellroda belonged to the Tonndorf office. In 1802 the Erfurt area became part of Prussia and between 1807 and 1813 it became part of the French principality of Erfurt . With the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the place with the Tonndorf office came to the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach . It was incorporated into the district court district of Vieselbach , which became part of the administrative district of Weimar in 1850 .
