The Schildenberg is 552.3 m above sea level. NHN high and densely forested mountain in the Odenwald with two approximately equal peaks. The northern summit is highlighted in the topographical maps with name and summit height as the main summit and is located in the Kailbach district of the town of Oberzent in the Hessian Odenwaldkreis . The southern summit, about 400 meters away, lies on the state border, so that the western half belongs to the Reisenbach district of the municipality of Mudau in the Neckar-Odenwald district of Baden-Württemberg . While the 550-meter line on the north summit covers an area of around 2000 square meters, the corresponding area on the south summit is about ten times as large.
The Schildenberg is the north pillar of a ridge, the eastern slope of which drops steeply and deeply into the Galmbach valley. In the south, the ridge culminates in the Köpfchen ( 571 m ) and the upstream northern secondary peak ( 553.1 m ). The Schildenberg rises northwest above the forester's house Eduardsthal ( 370.3 m ) in the upper Galmbach valley .
