Schilleningken (1938 to 1946 Ostdorf (Ostpr.) ) Was a place in the east of East Prussia in today's area of Dobrowolskoje selskoje posselenije (rural municipality Dobrowolsk) in Krasnosnamensk Raion (Lasdehnen , 1938 to 1946 Haselberg) of the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg area (Prussia) ) .

Geographical location

Schilleningken was 24 kilometers northeast of the former district town of Pillkallen (1938 to 1946 Schloßberg) on the west bank of the Scheschuppe (Шешупе, Šešupė), which forms the border between Russia and Lithuania here.

Schilleningken was the easternmost town in the German Empire until 1945 . Then the eastern part of East Prussia was added to the Soviet Union. The surviving residents were either captured or displaced.

From Schirwindt (now Russian: Kutusowo) an impassable road led directly into the town. Schirwindt was also the next station on the railway line from Pillkallen via Grumbkowkeiten to here until 1945 , which was operated by the Pillkaller Kleinbahn .

In 1664 the village formerly called Schilleningken was mentioned for the first time. Between 1874 and 1945 the place belonged to the administrative district Schirwindt in the district of Pillkallen (1939 to 1945 "Landkreis Schloßberg (Ostpr.)") In the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 Schilleningken had 62 inhabitants.

On September 30, 1928, Schilleningken expanded by merging with the Dwarischken estate (1938 to 1945: Löbelshorst, no longer existing today) to form the new rural community of Schilleningken. The total number of inhabitants was 195 in 1933 and 142 in 1939. On June 3 - officially confirmed on July 16 - of the year 1938, Schilleningken was renamed "Ostdorf (Ostpr.)" In order to avoid the ideological and political demand to take foreign sounding place names into account. The addition "Parish Schwirwindt" previously distinguished the place from the village of Schilleningken, Ksp, also located in the Pillkallen district .
