The shingle head in the Harz is about 629 m above sea level. NHN high southwestern foothills of the Auf dem Acker ridge ( 865.1 m ). It is located near Osterode am Harz in the non-parish Harz region of the Lower Saxony district of Göttingen ( Germany ).
Geographical location
The Schindelkopf is located in the Upper Harz in the Harz Nature Park . It rises between the southwest end of the actual Acker mountain ridge in the east and the core town of Osterode am Harz in the west. Its landscape drops in a north-north-east direction through the Schachttal to the east end of the Sösestausees lake with its pre-basin, through the valley of the Kleine Steinau , which rises on the mountain, to the south-southwest to the valley of the Sieber and along the Eipenke, which also swells on the mountain, to the west-north-west to the valley of the Söse . The Große Schweimke rises somewhat to the southwest of the mountain , which is fed by the Kleine Schweimke and is a tributary of the Kleine Steinau .

The Schindelkopf can only be reached on forest paths. On its northwest flank there is a kote (approx. 550 m ; ⊙ ), which is included as no. 143 in the system of stamp points of the Harz hiking needle .
