Schizobasis intricata is a plant of the genus schizobasis in the family of asparagaceae (Asparagaceae). The specific epithet intricata comes from Latin , means 'tangled' and refers to the inflorescence.

Schizobasis intricata grows with spherical bulbs with white or pink onion scales. Young leaves are thread-like.
The one to three upright inflorescences reach a length of up to 50 centimeters. They are bent in a zigzag fashion at the knot . The 2 to 3 millimeter long bracts are spurred. The flowers are on 0.7 to 5 centimeters long, arching, rising flower stalks . The spread out tepals are white to pale yellow and up to 4 millimeters long. The stamens are fused with the base of the tepals. They are slightly shorter than the tepals.
Systematics and distribution
Schizobasis intricata is widespread in Ethiopia , Zimbabwe , Zambia , Mozambique , Angola , Tanzania , Namibia and South Africa in water-permeable rock crevices up to altitudes of 1500 meters.
The first description as Anthericum intricatum by John Gilbert Baker was published in 1872. Two years later he placed the species in the genus Schizobasis .
Synonyms are Drimia intricata (Baker) JCManning & Goldblatt (2000) and Schizobasis macowanii Baker (1873) and Schizobasis dinteri K. Krause (1912).
