The Schleichgraben is an approx. 15.5 kilometer long tributary of the Black Elster in Saxony and Brandenburg .
geography
It rises south of Leippe-Torno in a landscape conservation area at about 130 meters above sea level in a raised bog , flows in the area between Laubusch and Lauta in a northerly direction and, after crossing the border with Brandenburg, flows at about 100 meters above sea level between Großkoschen and Tätzschwitz in the Black Elster.
Shortly before the estuary, the Schleichgraben feeds and drains the Erikasee , a drainage system from the former Erika lignite mining area, fed by pit water by means of other smaller trenches . From the 1930s onwards, the Schleichgraben was primarily used to transport away the phenol - containing groundwater polluted by the former Lautawerk plant . The mouthpiece in front of the Schwarzen Elster has a water quality class of II-III (critically polluted). The creeping ditch is severely affected by toxic substances.
In a response to a state parliament request on April 21, 2011, the Schleichgraben is described as being in an ecologically poor state.
