Tätzschwitz , Upper Sorbian , is a district of the municipality Elsterheide in the district of Bautzen in Saxony . The place is in the recognized Sorbian settlement area .

Tätzschwitz is located in Upper Lusatia, right on the border with Lower Lusatia and the State of Brandenburg, about twelve kilometers northwest of Hoyerswerda and nine kilometers east of Senftenberg . Towns nearby are Geierswalde in the north of the city Lauta belonging district Laubusch in the southeast, the city Lauta in the south and the belonging to the city of Senftenberg in Brandenburg district Großkoschen in the West.
The place is in the Lusatian Lakeland . To the north lies the Geierswalder See and south of the Erikasee .
County road 9211 runs through Tätzschwitz.
history
The place Tätzschwitz was first mentioned in 1401 as Taczewicz . In the course of time, the name of the place changed via Datschwitz (1551) and Taschwitz (1590) to today's Tätzschwitz. The place name can be traced back to a previous mayor and means village of Ptac . Ptac is the Old Sorbian word for bird . In 1937 the place was used by the Nazis as part of the Germanization in the German Reich in bird grove renamed and was called until 1945 that way.
In the years 1953/54 the place Tätzschwitz was partially devastated in favor of the Koschen open-cast coal mine .
After the Congress of Vienna , Tätzschwitz came to the Kingdom of Prussia . On July 25, 1952, the place was assigned to the district of Hoyerswerda and was after the fall in the district of Hoyerswerda in Saxony . On July 1, 1995, Tätzschwitz was merged with the previously independent municipalities of Bluno , Geierswalde , Klein Partwitz , Nardt , Neuwiese / Bergen , Sabrodt and Seidewinkel to form the new municipality of Elsterheide . This was from January 1, 1996 to July 31, 2008 in the district of Kamenz , since August 1, 2008 Tätzschwitz has been in the district of Bautzen .
