The Himmelpfort lock is a self-service lock in the Lychener waters . It is located in Himmelpfort , a district of the city of Fürstenberg / Havel in the north of the state of Brandenburg .

The first lock between the Haussee and the Stolpsee was built when the Woblitz was made navigable in 1752. In order to cope with the growing navigation on the waters there, a lock was built from 1879 to 1882 according to the Finow dimension , reconstructed in 1907 and renovated and rebuilt in 1976 . Before the renovation in 1976, the lock chamber had sloping heavyweight walls made of bricks with rammed wooden piles to moor the ships.
The Himmelpfort lock balances the water level between the Stolpsee ( Obere Havel waterway ) and the Lychenern waters and has an average drop of 1.15 meters. The lock chamber can be used over a length of 41.5 m and width of 5.37 m and is closed with mortise gates . The fascines in the upper and lower water were replaced by sheet piling in 2013 . The Himmelpfort lock is monitored and maintained by the Eberswalde Waterways and Shipping Office . The excursions and recreational boating can be used from early April to late November at certain times.
