The Schliefbach or Schlifbach is a Swiss tributary of the Birsig . The estuary is located in the Oberwil area in the canton of Basel-Landschaft , on the border with Therwil , at 300  m above sea level. M. The stream rises as a valley stream near Rotberg Castle in the Solothurn community of Metzerlen-Mariastein and as a throat ditch on the Hofstetter Bergmatte . The latter flows from there through the Kehlengraben Gorge to the Hofstetten district of the Hofstetten-Flüh community , has overturned there and reappears below the village near the Sternenberg ruins . Further down it is called Flühbach , and the two tributaries then join in Flüh. In Bättwil the water is called Haugraben , in Witterswil Binnbach and in Therwil finally Schliefbach .

Over a section of 100 meters, the river forms the border between the municipality of Bättwil in Switzerland and the municipality of Leymen in France .
