Rennhof Palace
The Castle Rennhof located in Hüttenfeld , a district of Lampertheim in the circle mountain road .
history
By the end of 1853, the Frankfurt Baron Mayer Carl von Rothschild had built the modern Rennhof Palace in Empire style . In 1889 it became the property of the von Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg family and in 1917 it became the property of the Worms industrial family of the Barons von Heyl zu Herrnsheim . In 1953 the castle came into the possession of the Lithuanian Central Committee in Germany, which has been running a Lithuanian grammar school here since 1954 . The castle is also the central office of the Lithuanians in Germany.
Badly damaged by fire in 1984, the exterior of the castle has been restored to its original state. Today mainly the apartments belonging to the school are located here.
Expansion of the castle
The tower in front of the three-storey central building is striking and merges from a square into a polygon above the roof . The conclusion is a crenellated viewing platform.
The hall is housed in the main wing, the two-storey south-facing building. This is followed by a three-story section with a surrounding veranda on iron columns on the first floor. Another transverse building is added to the central wing in the north. The large park behind the castle is designed as a landscape garden. To the north are the modern school buildings of the grammar school.
