Heppenheim City Palace
The Heppenheim City Palace is located in the immediate vicinity of the historic market square of Heppenheim .
history
The city palace was largely built around 1700 by the von Rodenstein family . Shortly after 1700 it was taken over and expanded by the barons von und zu der Hess, the burgrave of the Starkenburg . Around 1825 the city palace was acquired by the city of Heppenheim and converted into a school building. Today the castle school is located in this building.
During investigations of the cellars and foundations, traces of an old fortress from Franconian times were discovered. Remains of an old vault and a radial corridor system can still be found under the schoolyard.
