history

The manor house of the castle

The Schwarzach moated castle was probably built at the beginning of the 14th century by the diocese of Worms and the fiefdom was handed over to the Electoral Palatinate in 1319 by Konrad von Weinsberg . Until the outbreak of the Thirty Years' War in 1618, the Schwarzach fiefdom went to the Landschad von Steinach , the Lords of Handschuhsheim and the Lords of Helmstatt, among others . The castle was in a bad state. In 1634 an official cellar was built in it , but the facility was not maintained.

In 1780 and 1800 the castle was rebuilt and today's manor house was built. The castle came into Baden ownership and is still used today as a state forester's house.
