Faster than 1,000 Colts (Original title: Thompson 1880 ) is a spaghetti westerns of Guido Zurli from 1966. The German premiere took place on 7 February 1969th

action

The young American engineer Ray Thompson travels the west. During a stop in Desert Spring, he is drawn into the dealings there against his will. The nefarious banker Brady, with the help of the corrupt sheriff and hired outlaws, tries to get all of the city's commerce under his control. Even the alcohol addicted judge is of no help. Brady forces traveling merchants who come to town to sell him their goods at ridiculous prices, which he then trades on at high prices. Initially without enthusiasm, Thompson accepts, provoked by the bandit Blacky and his people, to bring such a truckload from the neighboring town. When the fate of the others overtook him, he made friends with the incapacitated Sheppard, then he developed his famous machine gun, with which he could settle the matter in the interests of the citizens. Judge Sheppard even found his honor back.

criticism

An “average Spaghetti Western with a tendency to the grotesque,” says the lexicon of international films , and Christian Keßler adds that the film tells its story with a lot of action and firing, but the desired mood depends on the audience's goodwill. Bitterly ironic is the résumé of JJ Dupuich, who wrote in 1973: “When will someone invent a weapon to give the Italian Western the coup de grace?” The Protestant film observer remarks succinctly that the strip is an “average- humble wild west entertainment ”.

Remarks

The theme song is performed by 5 Goldfingers . It appeared on single (Beat BT 016). The Italian gross profit was a below average 65 million lire .

An uncut version of the film appeared in Koch Media's Spaghetti Western series . Both existing synchronized versions can be heard on it.
