history

Schnellwalde was founded by the German Order as a Hufenzinsdorf.

Friedrich Kellermann, later pastor in Schnellwalde

Schnellwalde was the seat of an Evangelical Lutheran parish from 1525 to 1945. Until 1819 it was subordinate to the Pomesan consistory in Saalfeld . In the course of the territorial reorganization of Prussia after the Wars of Liberation, the Protestant diocese of Mohrungen was formed in 1819 , to which Schnellwalde was added. The office of superintendent was carried out by pastors in a secondary position and was not tied to any specific location. The diocese of Mohrungen was administered from Schnellwalde between 1871 and 1877 (Superintendent von Behr). When the Diocese of Saalfeld was rebuilt in 1902, Schnellwalde was added to this.

Around 1900 the Schnellwalde parish included Schnellwalde (village and estate), Albrechtswalde , Auer (village and estate), Bukowitzwerder , Chmilowken , Dittersdorf , Gablauken , Herrlichkeit , Groß Karnitte and Klein Karnitte , Kerpen (village and estate), Kraggenkrug , Leißnersberg , Lindenwerder , Nosewitz , Pieclo , Pomehlen , Adlig and Königlich Schliewe , Skittlauken , Skulten , Schönaich , Ulpitten , Weepers and Wilhelmswalde . The pastor was also the local school inspector for the elementary schools in Schnellwalde, Auer, Dittersdorf , Gr. Karnitte , Kerpen and Weepers, where a total of eight teachers were employed. The patron saint of the parish church was Freiherr von Albedyll -Karnitten. The congregation had about 2500 members.

The Schnellwalde parish archive has been preserved for the period 1802–1888 and is part of the Olsztyn State Archive.

In 1874, the rural community Schnellwalde was incorporated into the Karnitte district in the Mohrungen district. The rural community of Albrechtswalde and the Schnellwalde manor district were incorporated into the municipality in 1928. The Schnellwalde community existed in this form until 1945.

Development since 1945

After the incorporation into the Polish state, Schnellwalde was renamed Boreczno. From 1946 to 1954 there was a Gmina Boreczno in the powiat Morąskie in the Olsztyn Voivodeship. From 1952 on, Gmina was divided into 15 gromadas : Boreczno, Duba, Dziśnity, Huta Wielka, Janiki Małe, Janiki Wielkie, Liksajny, Lisówka, Surbajny, Surzyki Wielkie, Śliwa, Urowo, Wielowieś, Wieprz and Winiec . In the course of the Polish administrative reform, Gmina was dissolved in 1954. When the Gminas were restored in 1973, Boreczno could not benefit from it, but was attached to the Gmina Zalewo.

Boreczno is of central importance for the southern part of Gmina Zalewo. It is the seat of a Schulzenamt of Gmina Zalewo, to which Śliwa still belongs.

The place is the seat of a Roman Catholic rectory, from which the subsidiary churches in Jaśkowo and Międzychód (chapel) are administered. The parish belongs to the Miłomłyn deanery in the Elblag diocese .

In 2000 the primary school was expanded with a large new building.
