action

Commissioner Lafitte from Paris travels to Rio de Janeiro to hand over Philipe Bernard to French justice. Philipe is wanted in France on three occasions for bigamy and it surprises him that he has only now been tracked down. So he tells the commissioner how he got married to four women:

Years ago Philipe was freshly married to Désirée and was a perfume salesman in the south of France. Instead of taking care of the sale of his articles, he preferred to always be with his young wife on time. His boss reprimanded him for his ineffectiveness and urged him to try a little more. Since even his wife was convinced that he should convince his female customers with a little more charm, Philipe did not hesitate long. He took the last of his savings, bought a new suit and went on a "tour of conquest". Philipe then convinced his customers with a lot of flattery of the qualities of his fragrances and creams. His order book began to fill up, but this new success was not enough to meet the demanding requirements of his Désirée. He did not want to be satisfied with the small orders and strove for the large buyers. To achieve that, Philipe also reached deep into his bag of tricks. So he kidnapped the dog from the wealthy Isabelle Roquefort with the intention of entering into a contract out of gratitude if he brought the dog back to her. The plan worked, because Isabelle's gratitude knew no bounds and she did not stop at a night of love together.

Philipe Brigitte Durant, the owner of a supermarket chain, chose the next “victim”. He helped her with a car breakdown that he had previously staged himself. She, too, succumbed to the charm of her “savior”, who first let her pamper him in order to find the right time for a sales pitch. When he was finally successful, his next destination was Jeanette Richard, the sister of two perfume wholesalers. To gain their trust, he had to go on a daring parachute jump with them. At the same time he won the heart of Jeanette and she invited him very directly to a shepherd's hour. As a result, she declared “Philipes” company as the new main supplier.

With this intensive customer service with full “physical effort”, the consequences were not lacking in the end. Each of the women thought they had Philip to themselves, and one by one they made plans for marriage. In order not to lose these major customers and to meet the material wishes of his Désirée, he submitted to his fate. Since he was constantly on the road as a representative, the double life was not noticed. But the fulfillment of his marital duties went far beyond his physical limits. As a result, he got sick and had a nightmare that caused him to put an end to it all. His wives made it easy for him because, as Philipe discovered, he was betrayed by them too. They use the days of Philipe's absence to let themselves be pampered by other men. So Philipe decided to flee to South America with Juanita, who had just met, where Commissioner Lafitte had now tracked him down. But after this story full of sacrifice for the women who were obviously to blame for the whole story, Lafitte does not manage to take Philip with her to Europe. In addition, he had meanwhile also married here in South America and a little son who needs him.
