Guilty - A murderous order ( The Guilty ) is a British-American-Canadian thriller from director Anthony Waller on a book by Simon Burke . It was released in 2000.

Callum Crane is an ambitious and successful lawyer. He has a family and is appointed federal judge . His former secretary Sophie Lennon, whom he raped in the past, blackmailed him.
Nathan Corrigan, who has several criminal records, has been released from prison after serving a six-month sentence. He learns that Callum Crane is his biological father and wants to get to know him. Crane offers Corrigan money to kill Lennon. Corrigan first agrees, takes the offered money and wants to carry out the murder together with his accomplice Leo. Later he changes his mind, but Leo finds the address that Corrigan had thrown away and kills the woman.
Corrigan contacts Crane and demands payment from him for carrying out the murder. On this occasion he reveals that he is Crane's son. The police suspect Corrigan of the murder. This assaults his father and forces him to confess, which he records on a tape. He also threatens to send the recording to the public prosecutor's office if Crane doesn't hide him and doesn't allow him to leave the country. Crane hides him, but Corrigan hands his father over to the police. Crane makes a statement that exonerates Corrigan. Leo is exposed as the perpetrator, but jealousy is given as his motive.
In the end, Crane's wife mistakenly sends the admission to the judicial authorities, which is kept in an addressed envelope.
