The Swabian Trombone Service is a brass ensemble within the Evangelical Church in Württemberg , which gives concerts mainly in southern Germany under the direction of church music director Hans-Ulrich Nonnenmann .

history

It was founded in 1947 by the then state trombonist Hermann Mühleisen in order to develop new works in the trombone choir literature. Since then, the Swabian trombone service has been headed by the incumbent trombonist. This meant that the Swabian Trombone Service has always been subordinate to the musical director of the State Trombone Day. As a selected choir, it supplemented the performances of the large choir. Organizationally, the Swabian Trumpet Service is assigned to the Evangelical Youth Organization of Württemberg .

Church music director Hans-Ulrich Nonnenmann has been in charge since January 1st, 2000 .

Present function

The Swabian Trombone Service gives regular concerts - especially in southern Germany - and often plays on occasions when an ensemble representing the church's wind work is required.

Under the direction of Hans-Ulrich Nonnenmann, the Swabian Trombone Service, which currently consists of 13 wind players, has recorded numerous works for brass literature on CD. These recordings then give voluntary leaders of trombone choirs the opportunity to listen to current literature and at the same time get to know new arrangements.

The programs include challenging works for trombone choirs, but also pieces for large brass formations. In addition to festive and lively arrangements of chorals, new sacred songs, gospels and spirituals, there are free pieces of music from different eras.

If there are representative musical tasks to be performed in the Evangelical Church of Württemberg, the Swabian Trumpet Service is also a first address; The selection choir can then be heard when new hymn books are introduced or at television services .
