Schwarzenhagen

Location in Saxony-Anhalt

Schwarzenhagen was a district of the municipality Rochau in the district of Stendal in the Prussian province of Saxony .

geography

The former Schwarzenhagen is now the eastern part of the village of Rochau, including the Eichenweg, Schwarzer Weg, Mühlenstraße and the eastern part of the Breite Straße.

The former rural community of Schwarzenhagen was nine kilometers south of Osterburg and 17 kilometers northwest of Stendal in the Altmark .

history

The first mention of the place comes from the year 1343 as Swartzerhage , when Margrave Ludwig united elevations and land in the place to the foundation of an altar in a church in Stendal. In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the village is listed as Swarthenhagen , several citizens of Stendal had an income there. In 1448 the Commandery in Werben in Swartenhagen had income. Further mentions are 1540 Schwartzenhagen and 1687 Schwartzenhagen . In 1804 the village is called Schwarzenhagen and had a windmill.

The place name Schwarzenhagen went out of use after the merger with Rochau in 1935. Only the street “Schwarzer Weg” still reminds of Schwarzenhagen today.

Incorporations

On April 1, 1935, the rural communities Rochau and Schwarzenhagen from the Stendal district merged to form a new rural community "Rochau".

Wittenhagen desert with chapel

In the visitation farewell of 1540 it says under Schwarzenhagen: "Has no special church, just a chapel". 1551 and 1578: "This is called Wittenhagen". In 1720 it was said in Schwarzenhagen: "There was also a church there before the Thirty Years War, but hardly any rudera left". In 1794 there were "hero beds " ( giant beds ), the Hümpelberg was plowed. In 1797 Johann Ernst Fabri wrote of Schwarzenhagen: “To the south-east of the Hesewig and Groß-Schwechteschen border is the desert Feldmark Weissenhagen. From the church Rudera are still there ... Every now and then you can find some hero beds on the local Feldmark. " Wilhelm Zahn wrote in 1909 about the Wittenhagen desert , it" is 1.7 kilometers east of Schwarzenhagen on the Feldmark of this village. The corridor to the north and northeast is called the Heidfeld ”.
