The Black Mountain near Krummasel is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon municipality of coastal in the joint municipality of Lüchow (Wendland) in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 180 is 3 hectares in size. It is located around nine kilometers northwest of Lüchow (Wendland) , between the villages of Tüschau and Krummasel, within the Elbhöhen-Wendland nature park in the area of the Lower Drawehn .
It is an abandoned sand pit on the edge of the Black Mountain, a ground moraine from the Saale Cold Age . A dry sand lawn has settled in the sand pit . At the edge of the sand pit, what remains of a dry oak and birch forest has been preserved. In addition, pine forest , partly with admixture of deciduous forest, is growing in the area.
The area has been a nature reserve since May 2, 1990. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Lüchow-Dannenberg district.
