There are six mill dams along the course of the stream , five of which are provided with a flood to ensure the continuity of the flowing water.

The lowland is characterized by differently used agricultural areas as well as forest areas and fallow land . The agricultural areas are mainly grassland used as meadows and pastures , but also arable land.

Above Schnega the valley area of the Schnegaer Mühlenbach widens to the Schnegaer Wiesenbruch. Here, moist to wet grassland and semi-natural deciduous and swamp forests are predominant in locations close to the groundwater. In the Wiesenbruch area there is a fish pond within the nature reserve.
