Mittlere Dumme and Püggener Moor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony town of Wustrow (Wendland) and the communities of Luckau (Wendland) , Waddeweitz , Clenze and Bergen an der Dumme in the joint municipality of Lüchow (Wendland) in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 332 is around 1351  hectares . It is to a large extent part of the 4931 hectare FFH area "Landgraben- und Dummeniederung" and the 3970 hectare EU bird sanctuary "Landgraben- und Dummeniederung" In the southeast it borders on the nature reserve " Luckauer Holz ", in the southwest on the Nature reserves “ Gain ”, “ Obere Dummeniederung ” and “ Schnegaer Mühlenbachtal ” and the landscape protection area “Gain - Mühlenbach - Obere Dummeniederung”. The previous nature reserve “ Salzfloragebiet bei Schreyahn ” as well as parts of the previous landscape protection area “Püggener Moor” merged into the nature reserve. The area has been under protection since November 3, 2018. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Lüchow-Dannenberg district.

The nature reserve is located southwest of Lüchow (Wendland) in the south of the Elbhöhen-Wendland nature park . It places a section of the Dumme and its tributaries Clenzer Bach and Köhlener Mühlenbach / Püggener Mühlenbach with their moist to wet and partly muddy lowlands (with Gistenbecker Moor, Bülitzer Moor, Schreyahner Moor and the Püggener Moor, which was probably created by the silting up of a post-glacial shallow lake) Protection. The lowlands are characterized by an alternation of semi-open grasslands , which are partially divided by hedges , field trees and rows of trees, and wooded areas. They have well-developed, flooding aquatic vegetation, near-natural river banks and are sometimes accompanied by trees. Streams and ditches in the nature reserve are the habitat of various fish, including mud whip and wolffish , brook lamprey , river lamprey and dragonflies . These are e.g. B. represented by the green mermaid and the blue-winged demoiselle . The nature reserve is also the habitat of the otter .

In the nature reserve there are numerous unused standing waters with spawning or frog-bite communities. They are the habitat of various amphibians such as crested newt , common garlic toad , tree frog and moor frog as well as numerous insects , including various dragonflies.

The reserve is the habitat and feeding habitat of various, partly consisted of endangered birds, including Weißstorch , Crane , eagles , red kites , black Milan , harrier , Buzzard , Schwarzspecht , means Specht , quail , Woodcock , peewit , Grebe , Wendehals , Neuntöter , shrike , Kingfisher , Ortolan , Oriole , Nightingale , reed warbler , hawk warbler , whinchat , stonechat , yellow wagtail and woodlark .

A special feature is the inland salt station near Schreyahn in the area of ​​the spoil dump of the former “Rudolp” potash mine with salt-influenced grassland, swamps , reed beds and a still water.
