Company history

Foundation and expansion

Company headquarters in Freinberg

The company was founded in 1871 by Joseph Schwarzmüller as a forge in Passau (Germany). In 1921 the first truck trailer with wooden spoke wheels and solid rubber tires (on iron tires) was produced. In 1939 the company moved to Freinberg ( Upper Austria ) by Josef Schwarzmüller jun. In 1985 the company comprised four service plants in Austria and one in Germany.

expansion

Expansion began with the opening of the production plant in Budapest (Hungary) in 1990 . Three years later, the third production plant was opened in Žebrák (Czech Republic) and in 2009 another service plant followed in Bucharest (Romania).

In October 2018, Schwarzmüller took over a service and repair workshop in Eltmann, Franconia, between Bamberg and Schweinfurt on the A70. The expansion to a full sales, repair and service location takes place on more than 27,000 square meters.

In February 2020, the Schwarzmüller Group took over Hüffermann Transportsysteme GmbH, one of the leading German manufacturers of container transport trailers, based in Neustadt / Dosse (Brandenburg).

Strategic direction

From 1966 the product range of platform, tipping and wooden vehicles was expanded to include tank vehicles. In 2001, Schwarzmüller developed the segment tipping vehicle in lightweight construction. This vehicle should combine weight optimization with stability.

In 2009, the fully automatic side member production was put into operation at the company's Freinberg site. In the same year, Schwarzmüller produced the first moving floor semitrailer with steel and aluminum frames. In 2012, the company launched the newly developed ultralight platform saddle. In 2014, the Thermo-tipping semitrailer, the Tele-Mega-Platform semitrailer and the 3-axle double wedge tank semitrailer followed.

The Schwarzmüller Group has been represented at major trade fairs such as Bauma in Munich or the IAA in Hanover since 2014 .
