Swiss Women's Football Championship 2013/14

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2013/14 Swiss Football Championship marks the 44th season in women's football. In the National League A ten teams taking part. The defending champion is FC Zurich . Newly represented in the NLA is FC Neunkirch , which rose at the expense of FC Thun . In the National League B also ten teams taking part. In the NLB, in addition to the relegated FC Thun, the newly promoted Femina Kickers Worb , FC Gossau and CS Chênois .

mode

Both the NLA and the NLB each have a qualifying round and a second part in which champions, promoted and relegated teams are determined.

In the qualifying rounds of the two highest leagues there are 10 teams each, which play one home and one away game against each opponent. In total, each team plays 18 games.

The best eight clubs in National League A qualify for the final round, in which half of the points earned (rounded up) are taken. Two teams only meet one more time. In total, each team will play seven more games. The first placed in the final round is Swiss champions at the end of the season and qualifies for the 2014/15 UEFA Women's Champions League .

The two worst teams in National League A compete together with the two best teams in National League B in the promotion / relegation round. No points are taken from the qualifying rounds here. Two teams meet each other twice. In total, each team will play six more games. The two best teams play in the NLA the following season, the other two in the NLB.

The remaining eight clubs in National League B must compete in the relegation round. As in the final round of the NLA, half of the points earned are taken. Here, too, two teams meet only once and play seven more games. Now only two instead of three teams are relegated to the first division , as the first division only has two groups.
