Scott Haze (* in Dallas ) is an American film actor , film director , film producer and screenwriter .

Life

Born in Dallas and raised in Texas, Scott Haze received his education at the Stella Adler Conservatory, founded by Robert Carnegie and Sanford Meisner , and the Playhouse West in Los Angeles. Haze first appeared in the 2006 comedy film Danny Roane: First Time Director by Andy Dick , in which he played a rehab patient. He wrote the script for the mystery horror film Prey 4 Me , which was released in 2007. Haze starred in the role of Daniel in the 2012 short film The Taste of Copper . The documentary Mully about the African philanthropist Charles Mully followed in 2015 , for which he also acted as a director and producer and for which he has received several awards.

In the film Child of God by James Franco , an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Cormac McCarthy , which was presented at the Venice Film Festival in August 2013 , Haze was given the role of Lester Ballard, a criminal who has been disowned by society. There he was nominated as best actor for the Volpi Cup. At the Hamptons International Film Festival, he was named Best Young Actor for this role. In preparation for his role, Haze lived in a cabin in Sevierville Forest, Tennessee, and in caves, and lost weight. When asked, Haze said, "I lost 20 pounds and made a living on apples and fish." In 2013, Haze was also named one of ten Actors To Watch by industry magazine Variety .

After that, Haze was seen in a number of Franco's films, whose best friend and muse he is and also lives with him, for example in The Sound and the Fury , Stormy Harvest - In Dubious Battle , The Institute and in Future World . Haze also got bigger roles in Franco's previously unreleased films Zeroville and The Long Home . He had also stood in front of the camera several times with Franco, for example for the film The Safe - Nobody Is Spared from 2017.

Also in 2017 played Haze in Thank You for Your Service by Jason Dean Hall the soldier Michael Adam Emory and took over in No Way Out - Against the flames of Joseph Kosinski with Clayton Whitted the role of one of the 19 firefighters who in a forest fire in Yarnell Hill Died in 2013. Haze had also prepared intensively for the role of the soldier for Thank You for Your Service . When asked about this, he said: "I look at these roles like an athlete."

Haze is currently writing the script for the documentary Ghost & Goblins . It is the first feature film in which Haze also acts as a cameraman. He is also the founder of the Rattlestick West Theater Company and the founder and owner of a theater in North Hollywood . He named the Sherry Theater he founded in 2006 after his mother.
