history

In 1958, the developed from Sun Valley (Idaho) originating engineer and skier Ed Scott the first aluminum ski pole, which almost entirely displaced due to its outstanding properties, the then customary bamboo or steel poles from the market. With this success as a basis, Scott USA developed over the years into a manufacturer of a wide variety of sporting goods.

In 1970 Scott brought out special protective goggles for motocross sports , and other items such as clothing followed. In 1978 the company expanded to Europe and founded a company headquarters in Freiburg, Switzerland, in Üechtland . In 1986 Scott presented his first mountain bike and in 1989, much more groundbreaking, an aerodynamic handlebar with which racing cyclist Greg Lemond won the Tour de France in a sensational final against Laurent Fignon by just 8 seconds. This was the closest victory in the 100-year history of this race. This very special form has become mandatory in the time trial today and is also widely used in triathlon .

In 1991 Scott developed the “Unishock”, the first suspension fork, and a year later the first full-suspension mountain bikes were presented to the public. The racing bike sector was constantly expanding and in 2002 they achieved their first prestigious stage victory in the Tour de France .
