Scott Vernon (born December 13, 1983 in Manchester ) is an English football player .

Career

Scott Vernon began his career in 2002 with the then third division club Oldham Athletic from his home region of Greater Manchester . The striker played for the club for three seasons and scored 20 goals in 74 league games, 12 of which he scored in the 2003/04 season .

From September to October 2004, Vernon played on loan at Blackpool FC and met there three times in four appearances. In the summer of 2005 he signed a long-term contract with the Seasiders from Blackpool . After he was mostly used as a substitute in the first half series, the 2005/06 season, Vernon was awarded to the league rivals Colchester United in March 2006 until the end of the season with whom he was runner-up. After his return to Blackpool, he became a regular under Simon Grayson .

Already in the first year they were promoted to the championship after the team prevailed at Wembley Stadium against Yeovil Town in the play-offs of Football League One 2006/07 . Vernon joined Colchester United in January 2008 for £ 100,000. It was awarded three times in 2009 and 2010, first to Northampton Town from March to May 2006 and to Gillingham FC from October to November of the same year, followed by Southend United in 2010.

In July 2010 Vernon moved to the Scottish first division club Aberdeen FC . In his first league game for the new club, he also scored his debut goal in the game against Dundee United . With FC Aberdeen, Vernon won the Scottish League Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on penalties, in which the English attacker was successful. A few months later, Vernon signed a contract with Shrewsbury Town .
