Scudellate is the largest fraction of the former municipality of Muggio , which has now merged with the municipality of Breggia in the Mendrisio district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

geography

The village is located in the upper Muggio Valley , a few hundred meters from the Italian border. It is connected to Erbonne , a district of Centro Valle Intelvi in the province of Como , by a bridge and can be reached in around thirty minutes. The two places share a common history.

The village ecclesiastically belonged to Muggio until it was elevated to a sub-parish in 1800 and a parish in 1813. This also includes the Italian village of Erbonne , for whose sake a border dispute broke out in 1604, which lasted until 1768.
