Sebastian Brandes (* 1983 in Magdeburg ) is a German actor .

Life

Sebastian Brandes completed his acting training at the University of Film and Television "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam from 2006 to 2009 . During his training from 2007 to 2009 he was already engaged in several productions at the Hans-Otto-Theater in Potsdam. The production Lügengespinst , in which Brandes embodied the roles of Mike / Jake, was awarded the ensemble prize at the 2009 drama school meeting in Zurich .

After completing his studies, he went into his first permanent engagement at the Oldenburg State Theater at the beginning of the 2009/10 season . There he took over the Ekart in Baal (2010, director: Jan-Christoph Gockel ), Hakenfingerjakob / Filch in Brecht / Weill's Die Dreigroschenoper (2010, director: KD Schmidt), doctor and Thomas in Biography: Ein Spiel (2010, director: Marlon Metzen), Parmenio in Philotas (2011, directed by Sascha Burge), the title role in Kleist -Stück Prinz Friedrich von Homburg (2011, directed by Alexander Riemenschneider ) and Horatio in Hamlet (2012, directed by Jan-Christoph Gockel).

This was followed by several guest engagements, including at Ballhaus Naunynstraße (2012), Theater Heidelberg (2013) and also in 2013 at Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin .

At the beginning of the 2014/15 season, Sebastian Brandes became a permanent member of the ensemble at the Mainz State Theater . There he appeared as Johannes Bückler in Zuckmayer 's Schinderhannes (2014, director: Jan-Christoph Gockel), as caretaker Quaquaro in Die Ratten (2015, director: Jan-Christoph Gockel), as Josef K. in Der Prozess (2015 , Director: Jakob Ahlbom), as editor Hovstad in Ein Volksfeind (2017, Director: Dariusch Yazdkhasti) and in June / July 2017 as Meister in Der Meister und Margarita (Director: Jan-Christoph Gockel).

In the 2017/18 season he performed a. a. as Sumsemann in Peterchens Mondfahrt (director: Jana Vetten) and as King Gunther in Die Nibelungen (director: Jan-Christoph Gockel).

Brandes also appeared in front of the camera for film and television. He was seen in various short and television films. Brandes played one of the leading roles in the feature film Disease of the Young (2010), a theater film from the University of Film and Television "Konrad Wolf", which was made for the final class of drama as part of a workshop on Ferdinand Bruckner's play Disease of the Young (1926), the figure Alf.

In the TV series Heiter bis tödlich: Henker & Richter , Brandes was seen in a leading role in the episode (first broadcast: November 2011) as Büdringhausen village idiot Simon Nettelbeck, who wants to get into the newspaper as an arsonist. He had another leading role in the episode in March 2012 in the ZDF crime series Notruf Hafenkante ; he played the newspaper deliverer Jan Sperling, who is targeted by the police as a "cat hater". In the movie Die Vermessung der Welt (2012) he had a supporting role as Wilhelm von Humboldt , the brother of the main character Alexander von Humboldt .

Brandes lives in Mainz .
