Sebastian Gessl (born June 30, 1996 ) is an Austrian soccer goalkeeper .

Career

Gessl started his career at ATSV Hollabrunn . In November 2006 he joined the youth team at SK Rapid Wien , where he would later play in the academy. In April 2012 he was against SKU Amstetten for the first time in the squad of the amateurs of Rapid, but was not used.

For the 2014/15 season he moved to Germany for Karlsruher SC . In August 2014 he was against the Bahlinger SC for the first time in the squad of the fifth-class second team of the KSC. In October 2014 he made his debut against 1. FC Kaiserslautern for the U-19 team in the A-Juniors Bundesliga . By the end of the season he made three appearances for the A-Juniors. In October 2015 he made his debut for the second team in the league when he came on as a substitute for Florian Stritzel on matchday 12 of the 2015/16 season against FC Germania Friedrichstal at half-time . By the end of the season he came to twelve appearances in the league.

In the 2016/17 season he played seven games for the second team. For the 2017/18 season he moved into the squad of the third-class professionals of the KSC. For this he was not used that season, however, he completed 14 games in the major league for the second team.

For the 2018/19 season he switched to the fourth-class second team at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . He made his debut in the regional league in March 2019 when he started against FC 08 Homburg on matchday 24 of that season . By the end of the season he made nine appearances in the regional league.

For the 2019/20 season he returned to Austria and switched to the second division club SV Horn . He made his debut in the second division in July 2019 when he was in the starting line-up against the second team of FK Austria Wien on the first day of that season .

National team

Gessl completed a game for the Austrian U-16 team in May 2011 .
