Sebastian Leipold

Sebastian Leipold (born August 31, 1983 in Schwerin ) is a German volleyball coach .

Career

Leipold learned to play volleyball in his home town of Schwerin at Schweriner SC . Since 2005 he has been a supervisor in volleyball. With the Schweriner SC he was able to win the DVV Cup . In 2010 he became an assistant trainer at VT Aurubis Hamburg . For the 2012/13 season he was the head coach of the second Hamburg team in the 2nd Bundesliga North . With the team he reached ninth place in the table at the end of the season.

For the 2013/14 season Leipold took over the position of chief trainer of the VolleyStars Thuringia , which were previously active in the volleyball Bundesliga under the name VfB 91 Suhl. Leipold became the successor of Felix Koslowski , whom he still knows from his time in Schwerin and with whom he maintains a friendly relationship. Together with Leipold, the players Vendula Měrková and Mareike Hindriksen also moved from Hamburg to Suhl . In his first season in Thuringia, he and his team were able to move into the DVV Cup final . In the semifinals they beat the defending champion and new club Koslowskis - Schweriner SC - with 3: 1 sets.

Leipold is married and has one son. His wife is a competitive athlete in the field of athletics .
