Sebastian Linz (* 1980 in Schwabach ) is a German theater director.

biography

After high school graduation from Adam-Kraft-Gymnasium and subsequent community service in Schwabach, Sebastian Linz studied theater studies, modern German literature and German linguistics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 2001 to 2008 . During this time he sat in on and assisted at the Münchner Kammerspiele (among others with Andreas Kriegenburg , Felicitas Brucker and Christiane Pohle ) and was a founding member of the university theater collective koonsfamilie .

After completing his studies ( MA , inter alia with Christopher Balme ), he worked from 2008 to 2011 as a permanent assistant director at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich. a. with Dieter Dorn , Tina Lanik and Jens-Daniel Herzog . Since 2012 he has been working at the Salzburg Festival as an assistant director with Jens-Daniel Herzog, Peter Stein and Peter Konwitschny .

In 2009 he set up a staged reading of Daniel Glattauer's novel Gut gegen Nordwind in the Munich Marstall . For his staging of Michał Walczak's The Journey into the Interior of the Room (2010) in the Marstall, he received the 2011 sponsorship award from the Association of Friends of the Bavarian State Theater.

In 2011, together with Linda Löbel and others, he founded the independent group ausbau.sechs and produced and staged the monological piece 17% body weight by Ewald Palmetshofer as a co-production in the Teamtheater Tankstelle, Munich. The documentary play development Atlantropa was realized in 2013 as part of the next generation series at the Schauburg . In addition to his directorial work, Sebastian Linz worked from 2012 to 2014 at the Pathos Transport Theater in the dramaturgy, curation and organization. He teaches at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding (study subject: Master's Dramaturgy) and works as a freelance production manager for theater festivals.

He has headed ARGEkultur Salzburg since March 2018 and, as artistic director, will design the program for 2019.
