CJ Walker and Sebastian Thomas are best friends. The two extremely smart youngsters from Brooklyn have built a time machine and hope that their invention will be accepted at every college in the country. However, their joy over their invention is soon overshadowed when Calvin, CJ's half-brother, is shot to death by police who believed him to be one of the robbers who robbed a mini-mart he frequented. Then CJ came up with the idea of how they could use the time machine in concrete terms. Together, CJ and Sebastian travel back in time and try to save Calvin, but that's not nearly as easy as they think, because sometimes they just make things worse. Together they have to decide whether they want to continue with their plan.

Joey Magidson from awardscircuit.com writes that Stefon Bristol , Spike Lee's protégé , fuses the film's New York flavor, for which the producer is known, with a creative time travel story: “A helping of Back to the Future , a Splash of Do the Right Thing , and the result is this highly unique festival film. “ See You Yesterday lives from the look and feel of Brooklyn and is therefore not only an effective time travel film , but also a love letter to the district. The chemistry between Dante Crichlow and Eden Duncan-Smith seems natural and their interactions are always a highlight. The two also prevented the film from looking ridiculous, because the audience thinks they see not only best friends, but also brilliant teenagers who time travel, according to Magidson. See You Yesterday approaches a possibly familiar story from a completely new angle, and the transition between light and heavy fare is cleverly resolved, which makes Bristol a talent to look out for.
Alan Ng of Film Threat found, See You Yesterday functioning, because of its fresh perspective on the exuberant, worn journey tropics and the pitfalls of time travel . The film tells an entertaining and solid story, which scores with originality and good leading actors, and is simply good science fiction.
